Planning estimates, clearly bounded

What Tile calculators can support, what it does not decide, and which project information must be verified elsewhere.

Planning aid, not professional approval

Calculator outputs, guide examples, and generated reports are first-pass planning estimates based on the values entered and the formula shown. They are not an installer quote, engineering design, product certification, inspection, permit, code-compliance determination, warranty decision, or guarantee of quantity, cost, performance, or suitability.

Product data and installation conditions

Coverage and yield vary with tile size, joint width, surface profile, substrate, application thickness, mixing, installer technique, and product instructions. Use the current manufacturer data sheet and installation instructions for the product actually being considered. If a calculator accepts a generic coverage value, that value remains an assumption you must verify.

US tile practice and local requirements

References to TCNA, ANSI, ASTM, building code, or other industry material are limited to the basis named on the relevant page. They do not establish compliance for a project. The adopted code, local amendments, authority having jurisdiction, project drawings, and manufacturer instructions govern. Waterproofing, movement joints, substrate preparation, slope, structural capacity, and wet-area details require project-specific review.

Prices, availability, and ordering

Unless a calculator explicitly asks you to enter a price, the site does not know your supplier's current price, freight, tax, inventory, lead time, or labor rate. A rounded package count is a planning quantity. Confirm box or bag size, lot consistency, dye lot, return policy, and a practical allowance before placing an order.

Corrections

If a formula, source, label, or result appears wrong, send the page URL, values entered, observed result, expected result, and a checkable source to admin@tilecalc.org. Verified corrections are reviewed against the calculator definition and its tests before publication.
